The Bytown Gunners Order
The Bytown Gunners Order is a non profit Trust Fund with Ontario Letters Patent issued 22 June 1981. The purpose of the Order is "to accept donations, gifts, legacies and bequests and, subject to any trust with respect thereto, to administer the same and the income thereof and, in its discretion, to make donations there-from to the 30th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, or any successor artillery unit of the Canadian Armed Forces, the headquarters of which are located in the said City of Ottawa for the advancement of efficiency and well being of such unit and its serving members".
Registered as a non profit charity, all donations, gifts, legacies, bequests, and other types of donations will be documented by the provision of a tax deductible receipt issued to the sender of said gift, donation, etc. Many if not all of the donations received have been and/or will be used to support and fund non-military expenses such as:
•establishment and maintenance of a Regimental Museum;
•the purchase and maintenance of 18th Century Period uniforms of the 19th century for the 9 pounder Gun Crew;
•updating and re-publishing of the Regimental History book from 1855 to 1952;
•creation, writing and publishing of an updated Regimental history from 1953 to the present;
•the location and refreshment/cleaning of the Beechwood cemetery monuments of the first 2 commanding officers;
•the establishment and funding of new Gunner related activities in support of the Regiment in the NCR areas of Ottawa;
•the establishment and maintenance of a Web site dedicated to the support of all Gunners in the Ottawa/Gatineau area;
•the establishment of one major "point of contact" in the Ottawa (NCR) area for the collection and distribution of information in support of 30th Field Artillery Regiment and other Gunner activities that promote the advancement of the efficiency and well being of the Regiment and its members both serving and retired.
